This scene must be taking place during PA, since that was the only period when both Crookshanks and Scabbers could have been present. From the colour scheme of the room - red, not Chudley orange - it is evidently the Gryffindor boys' dormitory. However, this can't be the Christmas Day scene when Harry received his Firebolt, because the boys aren't in pajamas and they've evidently been playing chess, not opening presents. Note that Harry seems to be losing rather badly.
