Here’s the next of the Big Things I mentioned a few days ago.

The Lexicon has learned that Rowling is sending out revisions to the various editing and translating teams who are working on her books. So far she has sent out a list of two small changes to book three which fix minor Flints in the text. These changes will now become the official version of the story. Here are the changes she has dictated so far (notes are for the Bloomsbury edition):

Chapter 3, page 38, line 8 from the bottom – two (weeks) becomes three.
In the US edition, I believe that is this line, on page 44, 3rd line from the bottom:

“So all that remains, ” said Fudge, now buttering himself a second crumpet, “is to decide where you’re going to spend the last two weeks of your vacation…”

which would become

“So all that remains, ” said Fudge, now buttering himself a second crumpet, “is to decide where you’re going to spend the last three weeks of your vacation…”

Chapter  4, page 53, line 20 from the bottom – twice disappears and the line will read: they’ve even ended up in the Forbidden Forest!
In the US edition, that is on page 65, about in the middle of the page:

“I don’t want to make him miserable, I want to put him on his guard,” roared Mr. Weasley. “You know what Harry and Ron are like, wandering off by themselves — they’ve ended up in the Forbidden Forest twice!”

which now becomes

“I don’t want to make him miserable, I want to put him on his guard,” roared Mr. Weasley. “You know what Harry and Ron are like, wandering off by themselves — they’ve even ended up in the Forbidden Forest!”

I am told that there are more changes on the way, and I will post them here as they become available.
