Atlas of Hogwarts: map of Gryffindor dormitory
Each house at Hogwarts provides
dormitories for the students. Those of Gryffindor are in a tower. The top
of the tower is the dormitory of Harry, Ron, Seamus, Dean, and Neville.
drinking
While the students are not
supposed to be drinking alcoholic beverages, they do manage to get their
hands on illicit libations from time to time. After getting through OWLs,
for example, a huge party was planned and someone was going to get some
Firewhiskey. Ron mentioned that he'd always wanted to try Firewhiskey when
he and his friends visited the Hogs Head, but Hermione sharply reminded
him that he was a Prefect and should show a good example. While not actually
an alcoholic beverage, Butterbeer
is drunk by most of the students. Other examples of drinking at Hogwarts
include:
-
Winky spends most of her time
drunk on Butterbeer. Dobby uses the Room of Requirement as a place for
her to sleep it off.
-
Hagrid is fond of drinking and
occasionally overindulges
-
All the staff get a bit tipsy
at the Christmas feast and Hagrid even kisses McGonagall on the cheek.
-
The Fat Lady and her friend
Vi get tipsy on chocolate cordials, which contain a small amound of liquor.
At the age of seventeen, young
witches and wizards come of age. Presumably they would be allowed to drink
at that time, although this is never stated.
