October
October is the second month of the school year. Halloween falls at
the very end of the month and this is the occasion of a huge feast and
celebration. Quidditch practices are in full swing, but the season doesn't
start until November.

Filch lights his office with a hanging oil lamp. This is the only room
mentioned which is lit in this way, which is possibly because as a Squib,
Filch can't enchant candles to float above his desk.
