Bloomsbury PLC
Publisher of Rowling's works in the United Kingdom. In 1996, WEB LINKBloomsbury, whose Children's Book Division was under Barry Cunningham, acquired the publication rights to PS for £1,500 ($2,250). HarperCollins passed on the manuscript, not taking the time to put a bid together and advising Bryony Evens of the Christopher Little Agency to go with the Bloomsbury offer (SS_JKRB).

Blyton, Enid books and authors
JKR says she read most of Enid Blyton's Famous Five and Noddy novels as a child, but she adds that they weren't particular favorites or books that she ever re-read.

Bournemouth
Bournemouth is a sizeable coastal Dorset town just northwest of the Isle of Wight. JKR's paternal grandparents, Ernie and Kathleen Rowling, lived in the Bournemouth vicinity for many years. See Wimbourne Minster.

Bournville Hotel
The Bournville Hotel is located in Didsbury (a suburb of Manchester), and JKR booked a room there one night after a "blazing row" with her boyfriend. While there, to take her mind off of the argument, she invented the game of Quidditch. "I wanted a sport for wizards, and I'd always wanted to see a game where there was more than one ball in play at the same time. The idea just amused me. The Muggle sport it most resembles is basketball, which is probably the sport I enjoy watching most. I had a lot of fun making up the rules and I've still got the notebook I did it in, complete with diagrams, and all the names for the balls I tried before I settled on Snitch, Bludgers, and Quaffle (AOK1)." The hotel is located at 148 Barlow Moor Road, M20 2UT.

Bradley, David films

Branagh, Kenneth films
Born in December 1960 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Kenneth Branagh was cast as Gilderoy Lockhart in the Harry Potter films. Among the many other roles he has played in his distinguished career, he was the reader for the unabridged audio edition of The Magician's Nephew by C.S. Lewis (see). Author of WEB LINKA Charmed Life: Spirituality in the Potterworld (Image, 2002), The Reverend Francis Bridger is a Principal at Trinity College, Bristol, an institution preparing individuals seeking ordination in the ministry of the Church of England. Reverend Bridger has been a Principal at Trinity since 1999, after serving as a vicar in Nottingham for nine years. His teaching interests include pastoral theology, philosophy and ethics. Bristol
JKR's father, Peter Rowling, worked as an engineer at the Rolls Royce aircraft engine plant in Bristol while JKR was growing up. Bristol is a port city located in England's West Country. See also Bristol.
