Harry's second-ever [Quidditch] match begins, with Snape officiating and [Dumbledore] in the stands. Harry catches the Snitch in record time, but still leaves enough time for Ron and Malfoy to get into a fight in the stands. Before leaving, [Dumbledore] congratulates him on the outcome of the match.

As he leaves his second [Quidditch] victory, Harry sees Snape heading into the Forbidden Forest and quickly follows on his broom. There Snape confronts Quirrell menacingly, leading Harry, Ron, and Hermione thinking that Snape needs information from Quirrell on how to get the Philosopher's Stone.

Hagrid shows up in the library while Harry, Ron, and Hermione are studying, and they figure out he's looking for books on dragons.

Harry, Ron, and Hermione go to visit Hagrid, where he tells them about the teachers who helped protect the Philosopher's Stone. They also figure out that he has a dragon egg in the fire.

Hagrid writes the trio to tell them his dragon egg is hatching, and Draco Malfoy overhears them talking about it. But they decide to visit after Herbology anyway.

Sitting in Hagrid's hut, Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Hagrid watch baby Norbert hatch, but they soon realize that Malfoy has seen it as well.

As the week passes, Harry worries about Malfoy telling people that Hagrid has a dragon, and finally convinces Hagrid to send Norbert to Romania, to live on Charlie's dragon reservation.
