Newt Scamander hoped to purchase a fuzzy creature known as an Appaloosa Puffskein in New York City as a birthday present for someone, but the breeder had been shut down by MACUSA a year earlier. Porpentina Goldstein explained to him that breeding magical creatures is forbidden in New York (WFT).

The name of this Puffskein comes from the Appaloosa Horse which is prized for its beautiful spotted coat. Prized by the native Nez Perce tribe, the Appaloosa is the State Horse of Idaho, as well as the mascot of the Florida State Seminoles (Source: Wikipedia)
From the name, it can probably be surmised that the Appaloosa Puffskein has spotted fur.
