A number of shops and peddlers in Knockturn Alley deal in items of dubious origin, including fingernails, poisonous candles. and giant black spiders (CS4). In 1998, with Voldemort fully in charge of the Ministry of Magic, a number of Diagon Alley shops closed and were replaced by nondescript shops devoted to the Dark Arts (DH26).
