What's New

I’ve fixed the Google search for the site, so have at it. Unfortunately, the Remembrall isn’t working right now because it’s fixed on the wrong domain. I’m sure we’ll be able to sort it out, but for now just use the Google search.

I just wanted to thank you for working so hard to get everything back up for all of us!

  • You’re welcome 🙂

It’s a pleasure, believe me. Nothing I like better than working on the Lexicon. Well, okay, there are some things like better, but you get my drift.

  • Paulina

So happy to hear from you!!! The Lexicon is back!!

  • JKMcGonagall

Yea!!!!! You’re back. It is my birthday today, so it was a nice present to find out that the Lexicon, one of my very favorite sites, is back. I was afraid you had given up on this wonderful site. Thanks Steve.

  • Susan

Thank you Steve…glad you’re back. Wiki is reporting your demise…guess they should check again!

  • Brandon

I wish to just let you know that whatever that has happened, you guys here have shown incredible courage, and that to many that has not gone unotticed, I wish you very well in your future works, to paraphrase a British term “Keep a stiff upper lip”, and just keep optimism and know things may turn out better than you could possibly imagine, I hope you just keep working and you I believe can be surprised at what people can do. 😛

  • Vhenn

SOOO glad you are still here and keeping up the great work on this terrific site! Many thanks, and the best to you.

  • Alison

Glad to find you back up and running! I nearly had heart failure when the site was no longer accessible through my “favorites” bookmmarks!

  • Joe Coffey

STEVE!!! I love this website! I just saw that my old bookmark took me someplace strange and I felt alone and afraid in what seemed like a world full of Death Eaters. But then I found you again! :”””) those were tears of joy. If I weren’t straight and Mormon and married, I’d ask you to marry me so you’d never be out of my life again! OK so I exaggerate. But this has always been and always will be the best site for Harry Potter fans. Good on you!

  • Mikkel Larsen

I don’t know if this is the place for asking this, feel free to delete this if not.
How about the Lexicon staff, are they back? It seemed a great team, it’s a pity if they have been discouraged.

  • Prl

Hi thank you guys once more.
I want also to signal that some links on the timelines page –
Marauders and the Rise of the Dark Lord – 1960 – 1998] send you to something that starts with http://www.hp-lexicon.*** and that is not it. If however I go to the address line and change hp-lexicon into hplex, all is fine.

  • Yes, the domain name is the problem. It’s currently hardcoded for the http://www.hp-lexicon.org address. For now, you can get to the pages by changed that URL to http://www.hp-lexicon.info. And hopefully in a week or so, all the domains will be sorted out and everything will work the way it’s supposed to. Thanks for your patience…we’re getting there!

I’m glad it’s all getting worked out. The Lexicon has been an invaluable reference for me, and I’ve always been amazed at the degree of detail it contains. When it went (excuse the term) kaflooey, I nearly lost control!

Quick question: I am currently finding the site at “www.hplex.org”. Is that going to change, or will that be the URL from now on? Just want to keep my bookmarks up to date.

  • I’m hoping that the http://www.hp-lexicon.org address will work fine within a week. I’m working on the transfer now. In the meantime, the other domains will get you pretty much everything.

  • Miri

Glad to see you back up and running! I’d checked many times over the last few weeks using my bookmarks and didn’t get the site at all or only the *home* page. Really missed the site, especially when I needed to do research for my first Hp fanfic. I tried looking on other sites but none of them had the detail of the Lexicon.
Thanks to you and all the staffers for all the work you do for this great resource for the HP fandom.

  • Sarah

Doing the happiest happy dance around the living room. Love the site, miss the updates, I’ve been checking daily to make sure everything is ok. Glad all is better.

  • Meri

    Hi Steve!

Just wanted to say that I’m so glad the lexicon – and you!!- are still here. 🙂

    Thanks for everything!

  • Neeta Neet

Excellent site! don’t know how you managed to pull so much together and make it look so good and so orderly!! Hands down the best HP site in the world.

  • pam

I just found you again thanks to a post on Leaky. WHen I read in Wiki that you were disbanded, my heart sank. Please keep up the good work.

  • John

I am so glad the Lexicon is back, and I hope it stays that way!

  • Wendy

is the url change permanent? (is hp-lexicon.org gone as the correct link?)

  • JKMcGonagall

Steve, will the Monthly Floo Network be back up and running anytime soon. I always enjoyed it each month. I have missed it too.

  • I don’t know about the future of the Floo page. I’d like to see it continue, but that would be a decision for others.

  • Clock_maker

Wow! The Lex is back! 😀

IS this the permenant site now? the http://www.

Because the old links are coming up 404 for me

  • The best URL at the moment is http://www.hp-lexicon.info. The old one, http://www.hp-lexicon.org, will be fully functional again in about a week. We’re waiting on the transfer now.

  • JJB

I didn’t order the tenth anniversary edition of SS but I read on Mugglenet that some have already received their copies from Amazon and one bit of new was a drawing JKR made of Snape while the series was in its formative stage.
Has anyone else received their copy and are there any variations in the text–such as corrections of mistakes or inconsistencies or re-inclusion of sentences deleted from the British version?
I’ve read the HP books so many times that even a word different would stand out to me but I don’t want to buy another copy of a book I already own several copies of if I don’t have to.
So, Lexicon Lags, what’s the verdict?

  • Clock_maker

OK Thankyou! Glad to see you’re back up and running!

  • I’m eager to find out what the new material is as well. I won’t be able to afford to buy a copy any time soon, so if someone out there wants to fill us all in, that would be great!

  • Andrea

    Glad to have you back!

  • Astrial

I’m delighted you’re back! I regularly visit this site and see it as a benefit to all who love HP and the wizarding world. Keep up the great job!

  • Reader2

I was so sure this site was dead.
I’ve never been happier to be wrong.
It’s great to see you all.

  • Spies Like Us

Thanks for everything, Steve! The Lexicon is the best, bar none.

  • Me_Potter_Fan

Good to see the Lexicon back. Anyone who wants to contripute to the Harry Potter Wiki can do so here: http://harrypotter.wikia.com

  • The Harry Potter Wiki is a great resource. I’d love to see the users of the Lexicon add their expertise to it’s already impressive collection of Potter pages. One thing that’s always been great about Harry Potter fans is that they love to immerse themselves in Rowling’s amazing world and then channel that enthusiasm into creating Wikis, Wrock, conventions, poetry, artwork, fanfiction, and so much more. I don’t know if there’s a more amazing group of fans on the face of the planet.

  • This is a great source of all Harry fought against!

  • JJB

    Hey Steve,

I ordered two copies of a certain book through Amazon.Com to give to family members for Christmas. It sounds really interesting and I’m hoping one family member will loan theirs to me—I would wish they’d just give it back to me but they’re big HP fans—so I can share in the fun.
This book I’m talking about has something to do with searching for Harry Potter—real life locations in which the HP books are set–and is by some author… it’s on the tip of my tongue… oh well, some big HP fan anyway. 😉
Amazon’s site says it was released in July and is now temporarily out of stock but another source says it’s to be released in October.
So, Steve, if you’ve heard any rumors about this book or know anything about this obscure HP fan/author (;P), I’m wondering if I’m being overly optimistic in planning to receive my two copies in time to give them for Christmas or if I’m likely to be deemed a brilliant gift-giver by my HP-fan family members?
Regardless, I wish the obscure author loads of luck!
