Barmy

"He said we is free to call him a - a barmy old codger if we likes, sir!"
- Dobby on Dumbledore (GF21)

Definition

Crazy, but suggests a silly rather than a dangerous kind of craziness.

Commentary

Etymology

The word's older sense is "frothy"; "barm" is actually the froth on top of fermenting malt liquor.
