More reasons to be excited about Hogwarts Mystery!

Come April 25, we’ll all have a chance to play Hogwarts Mystery. Jam City, the developers, recently announced that a number of stars who played Hogwarts professors in the films would be returning to voice the characters in the game, including Dame Maggie Smith as Professor McGonagall, Michael Gambon as Professor Dumbledore, and Warwick Davis as Professor Flitwick. Gemma Jones is also returning as Madam Pomfrey and Zoe Wanamaker as Madam Hooch. For the first time, we’ll also hear the voice of Madam Irma Pince, who was played in the second film by Sally Mortemore but was only seen in the background and never heard.

That’s all well and good, but we canon fanatics have another reason to be excited about the game. We do know that it takes place in the decade before Harry arrives at Hogwarts and that Bill Weasley appears in the game. I’ve been informed by someone who played the beta that Charlie Weasley also appears, which means that we will discover Charlie’s Hogwarts year– at least according to this non-canon game — and that we will be able to play through multiple game years. Why is this important? Because the only way to rectify all canon information about Charlie is to have him born in 1973 and leaving Hogwarts half-way though his sixth year to go to Romania to study dragons. Will the game have him leaving during his sixth year or will they blow off all that canon information and have him finish all seven years at Hogwarts?
