English Channel

English Channel

The English Channel is a body of water separating southern England from northern France, connecting the Atlantic Ocean with the North Sea.

  • In 1422, a sorceress named Lisette de Lapin escaped execution for witchcraft in France by transfiguring into an Animagus white rabbit and sailing across the English Channel in a large cauldron with a sail (TBB/BR). It is thought she became a trusted advisor to King Henry VI, although being friends with a large white rabbit Animagus led people to believe he was mentally unstable.
