Mr. Padfoot’s Astonishment

In his effort to bail Harry out of trouble with Snape, Professor Lupin suggests that the Marauder's Map is simply designed to insult anyone who tries to read it.  Given that he is one of the manufacturers of the map, it seems plausible that there is a grain of truth in his misdirection--that perhaps Snape is not the only person who would be antagonized upon attempting to read the map.  However, it is likely that he will be more spectacularly insulted than anyone else who tries to use it would be.
