The Harry Potter Canon

The Wizarding family, notable members include Fleur, Gabrielle, Apolline, and Monsieur.

  • Apolline
Married to Monsieur Delacour and mother of Fleur and Gabrielle Delacour. Was present for the Third Task of the Triwizard Tournament held at Hogwarts (GF31). Also attended the wedding of her daughter, Fleur, to Bill Weasley (DH8). Madame Delacour is described as being a beautiful blonde woman and accomplished at household spells (DH6)
Apolline = more than likely derived from the male Apollo who was, among other things, the god of beauty.
  • Fleur (b. circa 1977)
Fleur is a very beautiful girl who attended Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. She is part Veela and was the Beauxbatonschampion in the Triwizard Tournament (GF16). After leaving school, Fleur took a job at Gringotts in London, (OP4). In the summer of 1997 (HBP5), Fleur became engaged to marry Bill Weasley; the marriage is set for July of 1997. (More...)
"Fleur Delacour" means "flower of the court" in French according to JKR (AOL).
  •  Gabrielle (b. 1986)
Fleur's younger sister. Harry thought at the time of the second task, when she served as hostage for her sister, that Gabrielle looked no more than eight (GF26). According to Fleur, Gabrielle talks about Harry all the time (HBP5).
Gabrielle = feminine form of Gabriel (Hebrew, 'God is my strength'); archangel particularly noted as a messenger who heralds and helps interpret dreams and visions. Of the angels associated with the four elements (Earth, Air, Fire, Water), Gabriel is associated with water. This seems apt, given the nature of the second task. -- MLW
  • Delacour, Monsieur (no first name given)
Married to Appoline Delacour and father of Fleur and Gabrielle Delacour. Attended the Third Task of the Triwizard Tournament (GF31). Monsieur Delacour is described as shorter, plump, and as having a little, pointed black beard (DH6).
