Hex-Deflection

A form of magic or class of spells that defend the caster against hexes.

References from the canon

  • The fake Moody included Hex-Deflection in his fourth-year Defence Against the Dark Arts classes (GF28).
  • Harry was struck in the ears by a Twitchy Ears Hex during practice, leaving them wiggling (GF28).

Notes

  • One spell, Salvio Hexia, literally means "safe from hexes," but there is no canon that it was the spell they were learning in DADA class with Fake Moody. It is mentioned much later in the series, when Hermione is putting protective spells on their camping places while on the search for the Horcruxes (DH14).
