It's rather funny that Harry's ears are twitching uncontrollably from the hex as Hermione wonders if Rita Skeeter is somehow eavesdropping on them with a magical bug. Actually, Rita was an Animagus beetle, so she WAS the bug (GF28, GF37). This also foreshadows the Weasley Twins invention of Extendable Ears in the next book (OP4).
