Grimmauld Square

Grimmauld Square is a “small and shabby” “square of unkempt grass,” surrounded by “tall, dilapidated houses” (DH9, DH12), which include number twelve, Grimmauld Place. It is in this square that Death Eaters are stationed as lookouts while Harry, Ron, Hermione hide from them inside the house (DH11. We know the square’s name from when Harry, Ron, Hermione, and their guard from the Order of the Phoenix rode the Knight Bus back to Hogwarts following winter holiday in OP24, the bus “rumbled around Grimmauld Square, weaving on and off the pavement,” before shooting off to Birmingham.
