The peacock is a bird with extravagantly long and decorative tail feathers. These feathers are sometimes used for particularly ostentatious quills.

Gilderoy Lockhart favored peacock feather quills (CS10, OP23). Lucius Malfoy kept albino peacocks on the grounds of Malfoy Manor (DH1).

Etymology

"peacock" is the male name for the peafowl. The female is called a "peahen."
