Ron’s wand breaks when it hits the dashboard during the crash (CS5). He tries to repair the wand with Spellotape, but it doesn’t help (CS7). The broken wand creates its fair share of mayhem as the year goes along, culminating in the backfiring memory charm which permanently injures the caster, Gilderoy Lockhart (CS16).
