Dungeons

Places of Interest

  • Snape’s Potions classroom and office
  • Slytherin common room and dormitories
  • Assorted chambers and corridors, leading to the Philosopher’s Stone
  • Dungeon large enough to host a Deathday party
  • Dungeon 5 (so, presumably, dungeons 1-4 as well)
  • And, I would guess, Snape’s rooms

Events

Most of what is unpleasant at Hogwarts–with the exception of any possible portion of Professor Trelawney’s love life–takes place “down in the dungeons”. These include Potions classes, Occlumency lessons, Deathday parties, and life-or-death struggles against Voldemort. I have included Snape’s rooms in the dungeon level as well, because he seems to enjoy it there so much.

Secrets and Spells

Hiss the word “open” to the sink in Moaning Myrtle’s bathroom and a pipe will widen in the wall. It shoots downwards, ending in the Chamber of Secrets. This legendary room is described as being somewhere “below the lake” amidst a pile of rat skeletons and a Basilisk (deceased).

Kitchen Level

Places of Interest

  • The kitchen
  • Hufflepuff common room and dormitories

Events

Harry meets Dobby again in the kitchens, where he gets bombarded by house elves carrying food and nearly hugged to death. The house elves prepare feasts hours in advance, and levitate the food to the tables above. Hermione tries on more than one occasion to spread the SPEW, but to no avail.

Secrets and Spells

Tickle the pear to gain entry to the kitchen.

Notes

These maps takes the details from the books into account as well as the standard structure and architecture of castles. While not canon, this map is certainly one of the most well-researched and historically accurate blueprints of Hogwarts that anyone could create. Interestingly, Robertson places the kitchens on a separate level above the dungeons.
