Human Parts

Some Dark Magic requires human flesh or bones.

  • In Knockturn Alley, one can buy human fingernails (CS4) and human bones (Pm, CS4).
  • Polyjuice Potion requires a hair of the person one wants to "turn into."(CS12)
  • More gruesome is the potion created by Voldemort to regain his body (GF32).

Potions Connection

Hair or nails of a living human are used in Polyjuice Potion to let someone be disguised as someone else. More sinister uses were employed in the Riddle Graveyard when Peter Pettigrew cut off his own hand and mixed it in a cauldron with Tom Riddle Sr.'s bone and Harry Potter's blood to help the Dark Lord rise again.
